Every Girl Needs Her Mother

Author: Kiana Perez

Browse the book

This book not only entails a journey of love, but a horrific realization of what true evil looks like. Lily has undergone the terrible loss of her mother through one of the world's most major and tragic events, otherwise known as 9/11. Her feeble mind was exposed to a very hurtful death and she was forced to deal with it in a way where she wasn't fully able to heal. Instead, 14 year old Lily focused all of her attention on her little brother, Tony, who she valued even more now that he didn't have a mother to take care of him. Her life will be toyed with by a few helpers who have been sent to try and get her to cheat death itself and meet with the one person who is the antagonist in most stories, but maybe not so much in this one. In this enticing short novel, Lily will realize that her mom's death was not fate at all, and instead caused by an abuser of love who played the role of, well, you'll just have to find out.

Kiana Perez

My name is Kiana Monique Perez Granados. I am from Salinas, California, but am currently residing in Marina. I attend Salinas High School and am about 16 years old. This novel is my dream in physical form, which should say just how important it is to me. I have been writing for a very long time and in fact, this concept was originally created in the 5th grade, but I had to amp it up into a much more mature and complex idea. I have realized that I can be a perfectionist with most things, especially my writing, which can be both a blessing and a curse. I love my family and friends who have always supported me through my dream of becoming an author, and I will always write to please not only myself, but my audience. I would like to be able to live through my writing and give people a sense of who I am based on the words I write and how I write them. I believe it is important for the artwork to match the artist, so hopefully my novel exemplifies the person I am, or at least the person I hope to be with time.

Though some may not understand the meaning of such a diagnosis, one can know for a fact that an illness like is one that can assure you that your untimely demise is inevitable. Malakai has an extreme case of schizophrenia, and has just been released from prison. He had recently been released from prison on parole simply for his improved behavior, despite his severe mental illnesses. The supreme court decided that he is still required to see a therapist, and has a backup plan of throwing him into a psychiatric ward if he attempts to commit anything funny. But one day, Malakai makes the utmost unreasonable decision to quit talking to his therapist. Since he is a deranged serial killer, the FBI becomes suspicious, yet is still hesitant to come after Malakai because of how dangerous he is in the public eye. Who knows what will happen next? I know that your mind is overwhelmed with curiosity, so go on. Take a little peak into the story of the boy who faced the FBI. Maybe it's real, maybe it's not. Who really knows?

Sunshine Elegy

Parker Maslowski

Sunshine Elegy is a poem book for the friends that shaped the author's grade school years. Despite its intimate nature, the poetry is accessible to all who like to read. The book is split into different sections, designated by the introduction to the section in a prose style similar to Jane Austen (Maslowski's favorite author). The sections are as follows: 1-7: Opening 8-14: Sunlight 15-29: Evening 30-38: Nightmare 39-46: Midnight Blue 47-59: Bastion of the Early Morning 60-75: Dawn 76-80: Final/Sunlight Redux
