Letters From London

Author: Charles S. Namey

Browse the book

Sometime before my father passed way in 1992 he gave me a brown folder containing all the letters, postcards, and many photographs I had sent home to my family while I was a student in the FSU London Study Program. I recently found this lost treasure trove of my experiences. The letters were not only an accurate chronology of my travels but also highly entertaining accounting of my thoughts, feelings, and a reflection of the times in which they were written. This book is the publication of those original letters in my own handwriting along with reprints of the actual photographs I took during my travels. The typewritten introduction and conclusion of the book are excerpts from a paper I wrote in 1973 upon my return from London for my International Studies Class. The cover photograph is a group photo of the faculty and students taken in the courtyard of the Monarch Hotel shorty before the end of the program. The reverse cover is a compilation of all the playbills of the theatrical productions I attended while in London.

Steve Wickens

When darkness and betrayal meet, one man's life changes forever. Kyle Forrest is a quiet, simple man. Possibly autistic but never diagnosed. He is kind, polite and has a live and let live approach. One day a violent attack overcomes him. His close friend is acting in a suspicious way and Kyle is left for the first time in his life, having to fight his own corner. As he battles to find out the truth about his attacker, he is abducted and his world comes crashing down before him. can Olivia, a woman he's just met, help him find the answers he is seeking? A dark story centering on abuse and subjugation of the vulnerable. A damsel in distress story in reverse. Men also need their knights in shining armour to rescue them from a fall, is Olivia, Kyle's?

The Optimistic Goldfish

Steve Wickens

This is my first brand new collection of poems for many years. It was refreshing for me to write new poetry without having to rely on my past work. There are 40 poems in all and are arguably lighter than what I wrote previously. Of course my thoughts about self worth and religion are still present in my writing, but there are several light poems that just reflect silliness and hopefully will create smiles. Poetry is a wondrous thing because it is a form of writing that can attract debates and discussion. It depends on the interpretation. These new poems are a gift to myself. I hope you enjoy them.

The Quickest Way to Hell

Steve Wickens

A book containing 30 poems that looks at life through realism and focusing on hell as a central theme. This is my 8th book of poems and in this collection I revisit some of my old work and retrospectively reimahine them.

Into The Light

Steve Wickens

I really like this collection. I hope you all do too! If you enjoy traditional poetry about subjects like nature, animals, religion and love, then you'll appreciate the ones in this book.

Full English

Steve Wickens

A collection of pretty much all my poems since 2014. All bound together in a beautiful book.

The Flesh And Shadows

JMS

Flesh and Shadows is a gripping psychological horror novel that delves into the murky depths of the human psyche against the backdrop of a crime-ridden urban landscape. Detective Alex Mercer struggles with insomnia and troubled relationships as he contends with the pressures of a city spiralling into chaos due to a series of grisly murders. As he investigates these chilling cases, he becomes entangled in the web of fear and paranoia that grips the community, while the media sensationalizes each horrifying detail. Alex confronts unsettling clues and ominous whispers that hint at dark forces lurking beneath the surface. With each eerie discovery, the weight of isolation presses heavily on him, straining his already frail friendships with Claire and Jack. As Alex's grip on reality begins to waver, the tension escalates, leading him to a chilling confrontation with the truth behind the haunting murders. In Flesh and Shadows, readers are taken on a harrowing journey through dread and despair, where the struggle against overwhelming darkness becomes both a personal battle and an exploration of the horrors that lie hidden in the shadows of the human soul.
