A stream of thoughts.

Ivenia sighed, pain engulfing her. Oh how I wish to have a friend. Oh the pain, thinking about it. It pierced her chest, like a million daggers breaking her heart with sorrow, thinking about other people and how they fit in so much. How she was teased and bullied, scoffed at. How she was teased, know it all. How would she ever have a happy ending? Ivenia dropped away from the monkey bars, walking onto a nearby wooden bench, she sat down, accompanied by no one, icy tears streaming down her cheeks. How would I ever have a happy ending? She thought. No one ever understands me. Everyone, oh how everyone has an ice cold heart! Ivenia tried to ease her sorrow, singing a song sweetly. A flower began to open in the month of May, A kind honey bee came to sport and play, But no matter how hard he tried, He couldn’t get inside, So he just hung around, And played see-saw on the flower’s lip, Oh my sweet sins, Oh my petals, You don’t open? How is your heart so metal?

The Heartache Inside Me follows my emotional journey through life so far. Filled with poems about different views of heartache, each reader is truly invited into my shoes to just sit in silence of the painful edges of many memories. But it's not just a book about heartbreak. It's about pushing through. Growing. It's about the small piece of hope you hold onto when everything seems to be burning down. The first poem "Life and Existence" is the longest poem I have ever written and it deals with my thoughts on the philosophical issues which we all muse upon from time to time in our daily lives. A book of poetry for children of all ages. Most of the poems were written for use with primary school children in the UK and Hong Kong. Some were just for fun - some were used to generate classroom discussion and to prompt students to write themselves. Most benefited from being read aloud. The oldest poem in the collection is "Alone" and was written over 30 years ago. The title of the collection "Mackerel" is meant to conjure a kind of "fishy" doggerel.

This series of short stories has been written as a memoir for my great-grandchildren to enjoy. When I found myself with little to do, an abundance of free time in the winter of life, I decided to put pen to paper to record some of the many stories that have shaped me. I hope they will share these with their children someday and that my memories of my childhood and my life with the love of my life, your GG, will live on into eternity.
